Earth Sciences Honor Society
Alpha Kappa Chapter of Sigma Gamma Epsilon
In 2013, five students in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences restarted the Alpha Kappa chapter of the Earth sciences honor society Sigma Gamma Epsilon (SGE) under the guidance of Professor Naomi Levin. The group is looking to bolster its numbers from students who have taken at least 10 credits of EPS or science-intensive GECS classes and who are interested in pursuing careers related to the Earth sciences.
SGE is a nationally recognized society that actively encourages the scholastic, scientific, and professional advancement of its members and the extension of relations of friendship and assistance among colleges and universities that are devoted to the advancement of the Earth sciences. The Johns Hopkins chapter was initially chartered on October 1, 1939 and was rechartered on October 14, 2013.
