Professor Peter Olson has been awarded the 2015 Inge Lehmann Medal of the American Geophysical Union. This prestigious award is given annually to one honoree in recognition for “outstanding contributions to the understanding of the structure, composition, and dynamics of the Earth’s mantle and core.” The Lehmann Medal is named in honor of Inge Lehmann, who made many contributions to understanding of the Earth’s deep interior, including her discovery of the Earth’s inner core in 1936. Peter will receive his medal at the Honors Banquet of the Fall AGU meeting in San Francisco this year. Congratulations, Peter!
