EPS was proud to learn that the American Geophysical Union (AGU) has selected Adjunct Professor Peter Griffith to join the AGU Local Science Partners 2026 cohort.
As a Local Science Partner, Dr. Griffith was selected from a highly competitive applicant pool based on demonstrated leadership and the potential to positively impact the science policy landscape. The program is designed to cement the place of science in decision-making by empowering Partners as AGU members and constituents to build trusting, sustained partnerships with their policymakers. Dr. Griffith and fellow Partners will leverage scientific expertise and communication skills to personalize science policy issues for their policymakers’ constituents.
The Local Science Partners program will provide Partners with many resources, including unique skills-building workshops and toolkits focused on communications and policy; hands-on personalized support from AGU staff members; and expense-paid travel to Washington, D.C. for in-person congressional meetings in March 2026 and again in December for the AGU 2026 Annual Meeting.
