New York Times profiles fossil findings by EPS faculty and graduate student

Concurrent with the publication of a new article in Nature Communications, the New York Times has profiled the research of Prof. Emmy Smith and PhD student Lyle Nelson into the animals of the Ediacaran Period. The new paper describes tomographic analyses conducted on fossil specimens of Cloudina and concludes that the organism was a bilaterian animal, making it the earliest known bilaterian in the fossil record. Congratulations, Emmy and Lyle!
